The Gordon Setter breed is a muscular, sturdy, heavy boned but active dog. The dog has more robust structure compared to the English and Irish setters. Excels in loyalty and obedience, this breed is a pleasant companion with children and all family members.

Coat: soft, straight or slightly wavy and glossy.

Characteristics and temperaments: The Gordon Setter breed is agile, alert, devoted, polite and gentle. They need to be around people most of the time. The dogs get along well with other dogs and children. Properly socialized breed even makes friend with cats.

Care: Regular combing and brushing is enough to keep the coat in a good shape. Bathe or dry shampoo when necessary.

Training and activity: This breed likes to roam so it is best to have a fenced yard. Training should be done early since he can develop his own minds and habits after some time. Make sure you give him sufficient exercise, otherwise the dog may become hyperactive and difficult to manage. Although he can be stubborn at times, consistent training give the best result and actually can be fun.
