Despite the unfair press, American Pit Bull terrier breed is a loving companion dog, loyal, a very good dog when properly trained and socialized. Because of its nature, irresponsible people often promote the fighting instinct, and causing a bad name attached to it.

Breed Height: 18 - 22 inches.

Coat: short-haired and smooth.

Characteristics and temperaments: American Pit Bull terrier has a natural aggressive tendencies but can be very obedient if properly trained. Pitbulls should be socialized as a puppy to avoid over-aggressiveness with other dogs. Excellent with children and extremely loyal with their owners.

Care: The short coat is easy to groom. An average shedder, this dog require only moderate grooming with a firm bristle brush and bathe only when necessary.

Training and activity: This breed need consistency in training from early age to avoid aggressive tendency, but even with only minimum obedient training should produce a tranquil dog. A Pitbull requires a lot of exercise.
